Old Democracy

Sachin Tendulkar

In terms of technique and compactness, Tendulkar is the best: Desmond Haynes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------  » I have watched a lot of Tendulkar and we have spoken to each other a lot. He has it in him to be among the very best : Sir Garfield Sobers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- » He is 99.5 per cent perfect. I'd pay to see him: Viv Richards. » I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two... his compactness, technique, stroke production... it all seemed to gel : Sir Donald Bradman. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- » Technically he stands out as the best because of hi

Expert...........in making

become an expert… Here you go: #1. Model the mindsets, habits and behaviors of the people performing at the level you want to play at. Surround yourself with as many world-class experts in your field as you can possibly network with. #2. Teach your craft. As you share what you’re learning about in your area of expertise, it deepens your understanding. And heightens your awareness. “Teacher learns the most” is a smart motto. #3. Fail as quickly as you can. Each time you stumble, study the data, recalibrate and iterate your next move. Do this daily and you’ll see steady gains in your performance standards. #4. Become monomaniacally focused on knowing all there is to know about one or two things. The secret to Mastery is concentration of attention. Period. #5. Read. It’s something too few people do on a daily basis. Reading collapses learning time–and allows the brilliance of the best to rub off on your thinking. #6. Get a mentor. I’ve had a number of key mentors in my life and watching

Father of the Digital Revolution .........The Steve Jobs

Apple, he is widely recognized as a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer revolution and for his influential career in the computer and consumer electronics fields, transforming "one industry after another, from computers and smartphones to music and movies". Jobs also co-founded and served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, when Disney acquired Pixar. Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox PARC's mouse-driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Apple Lisa and, one year later, the Macintosh. He also played a role in introducing the LaserWriter, one of the first widely available laser printers, to the market. After a power struggle with the board of directors in 1985, Jobs left Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets. In 1986, he acquired the c

6 Things You Should Quit Doing To Be More Successful

We often get stuck in a hamster wheel of habit. We do things that aren't good for us, remain where we shouldn't and put ourselves through voluntary suffering all in the name of comfort. But a rare few snap out of it. House of Cards gives you an insight into the 6 things you need to quit doing, which will help you reinvent yourself. Quit Stopping : They say that at the very moment you want to quit, you're actually almost there. Remember why you started it, then push onward. If you stop and think about quitting, you'll never know what it feels like to reach the finish line. Quit Saying Tomorrow  — You know the saying, 'Yesterday you said tomorrow?' Delaying something that you think is important means one of two things: you're either scared to start because it means your life will change or you want it for the wrong reasons. Get things done! Quit Being A Victim  — You have a choice in everything you do. If you're choosing to remain in a place th

Weight of stress

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz. She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable
